Join us for our Dramatic Narrative as we celebrate Lent

  • 75 South Broadway, geneva (map)

Lent has begun and we make our journey to Resurrection Sunday.

Twice a year, every Pastor I know struggles to be fresh, to bring meaning to the season, and the all too familiar passages of scripture. Over the years in an attempt to bring “life” to the sermons, I’ve found a relatively fresh approach is first-person narrative preaching, and it has been rather successful. Coming Sunday, March 3, and each following Sunday ending on the 24th The United Church will experience first-person dramatic narrative sermons.

The essential distinction of a first-person sermon is we tell the story from the vantage point of one character in the narrative. A first-person sermon starts with either a character or a text.

If you are wondering what this would be like to see and to hear Join us at the United Church each Sunday at 10:30 am.

March 3, The blind man will tell his story.

March 10, A shepherd and a trader will meet. The Shepherd will share his story of what he saw 33 years ago and what he witnessed in Jerusalem that day.

March 17, A Pharisee describes the Unwanted guest, her actions, and Jesus’ response.

March 24, Crowded Streets, a shepherd comes to bring his sacrifice and witness a life-altering sacrifice.
